PvP games of skill vs slots
These two formats sit side by side in the same arcade and have almost nothing in common — not in how a round resolves, not in what your input does, and not in where they are allowed to operate.
What decides the outcome
A slot resolves by chance. The result of a spin is generated independently of anything you did beyond starting it. Skill does not enter into it, and no amount of practice changes the distribution.
A PvP game of skill resolves by performance. You are matched with another real player, you both play the same game under the same conditions, and the better score wins the pot. Practice makes you better and better play wins more.
Why the distinction is legal, not cosmetic
Several states treat contests of skill differently from chance-based promotions. Where a chance-based social casino cannot operate, a skill-based contest often can — which is why California, Indiana, Maine and New York are PvP-only markets for Coverd Arcade.
If you live in one of those four states, PvP is not a subsection of the arcade. It is the arcade.

Short rounds against a real opponent. The games are simple to learn — reaction, timing, pattern and aim formats — and the matchmaking pairs you against someone playing for the same amount.
